Satao Camp
Satao Camp is an exclusive tented wonder. Nestling among Tamarind trees, overlooking the busy watering hole. The camp provides tranquility and relaxation in the “Eden of East Africa” with the extra personal touch.
Satao is situated in Tsavo East National Park, approximately 45kms from both Buchuma and Voi Gates.
The camp was built 8 years ago, it has 20 tents all en-suite, giving a total of forty beds , the tents are built in a semi circle ensuring all get a front row view of the watering hole.
You truly get close to Africa in true Safari Style, being part of the surroundings and at one with nature sleeping under canvas in the African Bush.
Location
Satao camp is nestled among the trees and overlooking a watering hole in the vast shrub land of Tsavo East National Park. The camp provides tranquillity and relaxation in the “Eden of East Africa”.
The front of the tents have their own patio with table and chairs.
Accommodation
Satao Camps has 20 tents all en-suite with a total of forty beds built in a semi circle ensuring all get a front row view of the watering hole. Each tent is constructed of eco friendly materials; sisal and boriti poles topped with a makuti roof. There is a tent with wheel chair access for the physically challenged.
The shower however is in the true African style, whereby the camp staff brings hot water in the evening. Each spacious tent has a private bathroom with running water. The bathrooms are very spacious, slate floors with stunning wooden framework, the wash basins sunken into the structure, all fitted with flushing toilet.
Activities
:: Typical activities at Satao starts include an early morning and afternoon game drives.
:: During the day you may relax in your tent or go up to the observation tower and study the animals who have wandered into camp as you await lunch, served under a 200 year old tamarind tree.
:: There is also an optional extra at Satao Camp of a “Sundowner in the Bush”. This option is magnificent: you are taken out into the bush where a camp fire is lit, bitings and champagne are served as you watch the blazing red sun sink into the night, making it a truly wonderful experience.
