Shimba Hills Lodge

This award-winning tree lodge was built in 1986 and is our youngest property.

It is located in Shimba National Reserve, Kenya’s last remaining habitat of the rare Sable Antelope.

The lodge stays refreshingly cool in its forest setting despite being only 45 minutes drive from the hot, humid coastal city of Mombasa (and 30 minutes from the South coast resorts of Diani).

Access
The Lodge is set 45 minutes from the Indian Ocean and about 50 km from Mombasa in the heart of an ancient tropical rain forest inside the Reserve.

Accommodation
Shimba hills lodge has 67 rooms which comfortable and uniquely furnished, some with the gnarled trunk of a tree providing a natural centerpiece, and others overlook the waterhole.

– Suites have their own bathrooms while Single, double and triple rooms have access to toilet and shower facilities

Restaurant & Bar
RESTAURANT: The dining room is a covered verandah with a beautiful wooden mural depicting the focal points of early man’s life. You dine in the open air overlooking the floodlit waterhole.

JUNGLE BAR: The bar opens onto an observation area overlooking the water hole and is open until midnight.

Dining
The dining room is a covered veranda from where you can enjoy your tea or dinner in the open air overlooking the floodlit waterhole while little Bush babies feed on fruit laid out on special viewing platforms.
